Michael grew up in Durban, South Africa playing for the Crusaders Rugby Club. After moving to the United States, he played for the Warrenton Wolfpack and was a High School All American for four years. In 2014 he represented the US on the Junior World Cup Trophy Team. Michael also played for the Taranaki U18, U19, USA Under 20s, San Francisco Rush PRO League, Austin Huns, and most recently the Austin Elite of MLR.
