Old Glory Re-Signs Cory Daniel
Old Glory is excited to welcome back Cory Daniel to the DC squad for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. During MLR’s 2021 season, the forward played in 8 matches for 314 minutes, placed down three tries, made 49 successful tackles, and arrived at 76 rucks.
“Cory developed extremely well last season,” said Head Coach Andrew Douglas. “We’re looking to see that growth continue and for him to force himself to a regular starting spot. He learned a great deal last season from Callum Gibbins, and he’s hardened his game in the tackle area. Cory’s a great team man who the players enjoy, and we’re proud to have him in the Old Glory family.”
In the fall of 2021, Cory was selected to a 9-week development academy for the USA Men’s High-Performance Pathways program. Daniel was then selected as a USA Men’s Selects team member to compete in the Americas Pacific Challenge in Uruguay.
“I’m really excited to be signing back with Old Glory for the 2022 MLR season,” said Cory Daniel. “We’ve got a good core group of guys returning and have signed some phenomenal players. Being a local guy and playing near my hometown, in front of friends and family, is very special. I can’t wait for the team to get in the area, start training together and build the team’s continuity. Hopefully, we can give the best fans in the MLR something to look forward to this season.”
