Fumie Reyes Named Skills Coach for Old Glory DC Rugby

Old Glory DC has announced the appointment of Fumie Reyes as the club’s new Skills Coach, adding a proven high-performance leader to its coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season.

A native of Hawaii, Reyes brings a global rugby background shaped by elite playing and coaching experience. Her playing career spanned both international and domestic levels, including time with Saracens internationally and with the Kahului Warriors, Central Washington University, and Scion Sirens in the United States.

After sustaining a career-ending head injury, Reyes transitioned her competitive drive and technical expertise into coaching, quickly establishing herself as a rising force in player development and high-performance environments. She began her coaching career with West Potomac RFC before taking the helm as Head Coach of the Washington Irish RFC.

In her first season leading the Irish, Reyes guided the club’s Division I side to the Mid-Atlantic Conference playoffs for the first time in program history and returned the Division III squad to postseason play for the first time since 2018 — a testament to her impact and leadership.

At Old Glory DC, Reyes will focus on elevating technical skill execution and enhancing attacking efficiency, particularly among the backs.

“I’m excited to join Old Glory because it’s a high-performance environment with big standards, and that’s exactly where I do my best work,” said Reyes. “Being the only woman coaching a men’s professional team isn’t the headline for me; the work is.”

Reyes’ appointment reinforces Old Glory DC’s commitment to building an elite performance culture and investing in coaching excellence across the organization.
