Old Glory DC is excited to announce the return of Maryland Paramedic and Rocky Gorge Head Coach Josh Brown for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The eightman has 14 career appearances in Major League Rugby and played 13 matches in 2021, had 439 minutes of playing time, and scored two tries. During the off-season, Josh Brown became the Head Coach of Rocky Gorge Rugby Club’s DI side.
“I just want to thank God, my family, and the 16th OG for the opportunity to work with this group again,” said Josh. “We’ve got a strong core of players from the last couple seasons returning and some great new talent with impressive backgrounds coming on board. I’ve learned a ton from my coaches and teammates these last few years, and I’m just looking forward to getting back to work with everyone and doing whatever I can do to contribute to Old Glory DC’s success!”
“Josh is a legend in this area and has huge respect amongst the Old Glory staff and players,” noted Head Coach Andrew Douglas. “He is a big, strong man who has given his all for Old Glory over the last three seasons. He was our Captain in our exhibition season and set that standard for others to follow. It’s great having him back for another season.”
Residing in Columbia, Maryland, Josh attended Long Reach High School in Maryland and then attended Salisbury State University with the intention of playing with their football team. It was then he discovered rugby. The forward captained the team for four years and led the team to three regional championships. After graduating, Josh joined Rocky Gorge RFC, where he won two USA Rugby Club National Division 2 Championships in 2012 and 2014. In the latter, he was named the Most Valuable Player. On multiple occasions, Josh has also represented the Capital Rugby Union Select Sides, Old Glory Capital Selects, and Capital Selects.
