McGavock Reed Signs On as Official Sponsor of Rugby Laws with Old Glory DC in 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 27, 2025) – Old Glory DC (OGDC), the only professional rugby team in the DMV, has named McGavock Reed as the “Official Sponsor of Rugby Laws” for the 2025 season. As part of the partnership, McGavock Reed helps the team explain the “rules” of rugby – which are appropriately referred to as “laws”- to new fans by sponsoring OGDC’s Rugby 101 video. The firm also leads off-season educational seminars and referee training programs.

A longtime supporter of Old Glory DC, the founder of McGavock Reed, McGavock “Mac” D. Reed Jr. said, “I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to sponsor Old Glory. I attended my first OG match back in 2023 a few months after I opened my firm. As a former football player, I had limited exposure to rugby, but my brother, Dan, played rugby in high school and college. When he discovered Old Glory rugby he bought us tickets to a match against the Seawolves. It was an incredible experience and I was immediately taken with the sport. The competitiveness, physicality, and versatility of the athletes makes rugby very exciting to watch, and the atmosphere in the stadium is electric.”

“When the 2024 season came around we went to every home game that we could. By that time, my firm had grown, and I wanted to support the team through sponsorship. After talking with some great people in the front office, we came up with a very exciting plan for the 2025 season. DC has one of the best sports cultures in the nation. It’s a perfect place for rugby to thrive and grow. For me, sponsoring such a well-managed and fast growing club like Old Glory is an absolute thrill. A great thing is in the works here, and I’m excited to be a part of it,” he added.
