FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Washington, DC (September 16, 2020) – Old Glory DC continues to add depth to the forward pack, adding MLR veteran Jamie Dever to the squad.

Hailing from Westport, County Mayo, Ireland, Dever spent his early days playing for Ireland Under 16s, 18s, 19s, and 20s.  He subsequently transferred to Connacht Rugby, one of the four professional provincial rugby teams from Ireland, for whom he appeared in both their junior A-league side Westport RFC and, in 2014, in 5 matches in Connacht’s Pro12 competition.

Dever comes to Washington, DC, with two years of MLR experience, having played for Houston SaberCats and San Diego Legion in 2019 and 2020, respectively. In 2019, Dever traveled the USA to play for the Houston Sabercats and played 683 minutes in 15 matches. Following his debut season, Jamie played with Canterbury in the English Third Divison, National One. The tighthead prop joined San Diego Legion for its 2020 MLR Campaign, playing a total of 107 minutes between three games before the season was ultimately canceled in March due to COVID-19.

“I am really looking forward to joining up with Old Glory,” said Dever. “There are some top quality players in that team, and they were very exciting to watch last year. I’m especially looking forward to working with Andrew (Douglas) this winter too.”
