Washington, DC (August 6, 2020) – Doug Fraser, 28-year-old wing and Canadian International, has re-signed with Old Glory DC through 2022.

In Old Glory DC’s inaugural season, Fraser brought excitement to game days with sharp side-steps and sudden acceleration down the sidelines. The wing accumulated 15 points during the shortened 2020 season, including the honor of scoring the team’s first-ever try versus week one opponent NOLA Gold in New Orleans.  Doug played 302 minutes at wing in five matches and ended the shortened season with 25 ball carries over 237 meters.

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Old Glory for two more seasons,” said Fraser. “I think we were on our way to building something pretty special, as the team was really starting to find its identity.”

Now committing to a two-year contract, he is looking forward to getting back to DC. “I can’t wait to perform again in front of our home fans as they are some of the best in the business.  I feel lucky to be a part of an organization that wants to create such a fantastic culture and exciting atmosphere for staff, players and supporters.”

Doug has been quarantining in Vancouver, BC, and with time off from rugby, has been exploring the nature that Canada has to offer.

“With so little rugby, it’s given me time to get out and go camping and check out different lakes and new spots along our coastline.”

Hailing from Ladysmith, British Columbia, Fraser attended the University of Victoria from 2010 to 2015, winning two national championships with the University Rugby Team. A standout collegiate athlete, he was awarded the Canadian University 7s Finals MVP and was named to the Canadian University 7s Dream Team in 2015.

After graduating, Doug played with Castaway Wanderers, a Canadian rugby club based in Oak Bay, British Columbia, and BC Bears, a men’s select side team that represents British Columbia.  While with the Bears he was identified as a high-level prospect and was invited to join the national Canadian XVs team. He made his international debut against Brazil during the Americas Rugby Championship on February 17, 2018.

Welcome back to DC, Doug Fraser!
