At 29 years old, Declan O’Donnell claims Hamilton, New Zealand as home. O’Donnell made his debut for the New Zealand sevens team in the 2010 Dubai Sevens at just 19 years old. Emerging as a young force in rugby, O’Donnell had the honor of being called up to the Maori All Blacks during the RFU Championship XV at Castle Park in Doncaster, England on November 17, 2012. The back continued to make a name for himself, famously scoring a hat trick during the final of the 2011 Wellington Sevens against England. Soon after, the wing took his talents to Super Rugby. O’Donnell made an appearance on the Chiefs squad in 2012 before joining the Highlanders in 2013.
O’Donnell has made several appearances in the ITM Cup and Mitre 10 cup since 2011, playing for both Waikato and Taranaki. Most recently, the wing joined the representative Waikato squad during the Mitre 10 Cup championship. O’Donnell follows Old Glory lock and 2019 Waikato teammate, Apisai Naikatini, to Washington, DC.
Fans will be able to see Declan O’Donnell take the field during the 2020 home opener on February 16th. Season ticket sales are now out! Make sure you get the best spot in the stands this season. Secure your season tickets here.
