While born in Scotland, Mason claims New Zealand as home. Mason attended Tauranga Boys’ College and continued to the University of Waikato, where he earned a Law and International Management Degree. An athlete on the pitch and in the water, Mason picked up rugby and water polo. Mason represented New Zealand on the U20 Water Polo team, but he ultimately chose to pursue rugby.

The flanker played with the Chicago Lions, a nationally ranked club team, before joining Major League Rugby’s San Diego Legion for their inaugural season in 2018. After MLR’s first season, Mason headed to his Scottish homeland to join Edinburgh Rugby, one of two professional rugby teams in Scotland and a member of Guinness PRO 14, in pre-season 2018/19. Eventually, Mason was called up to represent Scotland on the 7s team.

On joining Old Glory, Mason said, “I am over the moon to join the team. This is a great opportunity to play rugby in an incredible city, make new mates, and perform at the highest level in one of the world’s most exciting developing rugby environments.”

Fans will be able to see Mungo Mason take the field during the 2020 home opener on February 16th. Season ticket sales are now out! Make sure you get the best spot in the stands this season. Secure your season tickets here.
