Old Glory DC Releases Return-To-Play Guidelines
As we approach the 2021 Major League Rugby season, Old Glory DC is committed to do everything possible for our team to play its games and share them in every way that is safe and practical with our supporters, sponsors, and the rugby lovers of greater Washington. Clearly, that effort must begin by ensuring that our players, coaches, and staff return to training and competition under the safest protocols possible.
Old Glory DC’s return-to-play guidelines set out the preventative measures applicable to the 2021 MLR Season (including Preseason Training), which are intended to help protect players, coaches and staff against the contraction and spread of COVID-19, as well as procedures relating to the detection of infection and transmission of COVID-19. This guide acts alongside MLR’s league-wide protocols and in accordance with current guidelines of the CDC and the state of Virginia.
The health of all individuals involved in Old Glory DC’s 2021 season remains the team’s top priority. The measures set forth to detect COVID-19 are an important part of this protocol, and all coaching staff and players are being tested twice weekly. Also, strict adherence to preventative measures by all participants, including diligent hygiene and distancing behaviors will be crucial to reduce the likelihood of the contraction and spread of infection.
This policy is intended to highlight considerations for planning purposes for Old Glory DC as the 2021 Major League Rugby (MLR) season approaches. Specifics may change and evolve based on emerging evidence, experience, and evolving public health standards as the season progresses.
