FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Washington, DC (September 11, 2020) – Sean Hartig, 26-year-old scrum-half and Mount Saint Mary’s graduate, has been re-signed to Old Glory DC for 2021.

Hartig’s continuing service to Old Glory represents another example of the club’s emphasis on developing home-grown players from the Mid-Atlantic region as rugby professionals.  Born and raised in Crofton, MD, Hartig has played for various rugby clubs in the region. He began his rugby career at DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland.  After being selected for his all-star team in his senior year, he went onto play for Mount Saint Mary’s highly competitive D1-AA collegiate program.  Hartig made a heavy impact during his four years, eventually being named captain and representing the NSCRO First XV select side his last two seasons. After college, Hartig sought high-performance opportunities and traveled to Northern New Zealand to play for Katikati Rugby Football.

Hartig names Rocky Gorge RFC his home club and frequently represents the Old Glory Capital Selects, the Capital Rugby Union’s high-performance select side.  Head Coach Andrew Douglas extended Hartig an invitation to play with Old Glory in the club’s inaugural Major League Rugby season after watching him play during the team’s exhibition season campaign in the Spring of 2019.

“It’s been an amazing experience to be a part of Old Glory’s growth since the exhibition season,” said Sean Hartig. “Our momentum was growing last season, especially with Old Glory fans in the stands. I’m looking forward to being a part of that again and making my MLR debut in 2021.”

Hartig has been quarantining at his home just outside of Annapolis, MD, and enjoying the Maryland summer, taking advantage of the long offseason and getting his body right next year.

Welcome back to OG, Sean Hartig!
