USA Eagle and Old Glory hooker Michelangelo Sosene-Feagai Re-Signs with Old Glory DC for 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Washington, DC (January 13, 2021) –  Old Glory DC is excited to welcome back Michelangelo “Mikey” Sosene-Feagai to the 2021 squad.

Sosene-Feagai claims two homes, Apia, Samoa and Auckland, New Zealand. Coming from two nations that claim rugby as their national sport, Sosene-Feagai grew up surrounded by a tight-knit rugby community. Additionally, Sonsene-Feagai claims U.S. citizenship, qualifying him to play for the US Eagles and collecting 5 caps on the United States national team. Before coming to Old Glory DC, the forward represented the United States against Japan during the Pacific Nations Cup in August in Suva, Fiji, along with Old Glory teammates Jamason Fa’anana-Schultz and Thretton Palamo.

During the 2020 MLR season, the hooker played 147 minutes for Old Glory in two matches and ended the shortened season with 13 ball carries over 81 meters and 25 tackles. Along with a small group of other forwards, Mikey helped Coach Douglas devise plans for plays off of the lineout each week of the MLR season.

Since March, Sosene-Feagai has been residing in New Zealand with his wife and young daughter and joined the Auckland Rugby in their Mitre 10 Cup campaign, alongside Old Glory DC scrumhalf Danny Tusitala.

“I’m excited to come back to Old Glory DC to finish off what we started last year as a new franchise in the MLR competition,” said Sosene-Feagai. “I’m especially looking forward to seeing our amazing supporters again.”
