Old Glory DC and Leidos Extend Founding Partner Agreement Through 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — (Washington, DC – March 24, 2021) – Old Glory DC, greater Washington’s professional rugby team, today announced it has extended its Founding Partner agreement with FORTUNE® 500 science and technology leader Leidos. The agreement will cover the complete 2021 Major League Rugby (MLR) season. Leidos has been a partner of Old Glory DC since 2019 and will continue this support through the team’s youth academy programs.

“Leidos has been the ideal teammate and we’re honored to continue this partnership,” said Old Glory Chairman Chris Dunlavey. “Our namesake is a tribute to America’s service members, veterans and the countless men and women who work every day to support our nation. We’re proud to join Leidos and celebrate these heroes while also bringing the joys of rugby to a wider audience.”

Through this agreement, Old Glory DC will prominently feature the Leidos logo on the back of their team jerseys. The extension will also broaden both organizations’ engagement with the local community and military families.

In 2020, Leidos donated 80 tickets for every Old Glory DC MLR home game to military personnel. In 2021, both organizations will continue working alongside each other on custom programs aimed at thanking military members and veterans for their service.

“We’re pleased to extend our relationship with Old Glory DC and support the growth of rugby in the United States,” said Jerry Howe, executive vice president and general counsel at Leidos. “We look forward to strengthening our partnership with the team and working together to grow our presence in the community.”

Old Glory DC will play eight home regular-season matches beginning the weekend of March 27 at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia. The season will culminate with the MLR Championship match on August 1.
