Old Glory DC is excited to welcome eight-man Jamason Fa'anana-Schultz back to the squad for the 2022 Major League Rugby season

Originally from Ipswich, Brisbane, Australia, Fa’anana-Schultz has been with the Old Glory squad since the 2020 MLR season. During 2021, the back-row started in 11 matches for over 800 minutes of playing time. On offense, Fa’anana-Schultz produced two tries, had 114 ball carries for 575 meters, and made 99 attacking ruck arrivals. He made his presence known on defense with 102 successful tackles and 73 defensive ruck arrivals.

On his return to Old Glory, Fa’anana-Schultz expressed his excitement to return home to Washington for his third year.

“2022… year three of the OGs” he observed.  “They say third time is the charm, and that’s exactly what this year is about. The core group of the original boys is back, and the 16th OG is hungrier and rowdier than ever. The focus of the organization this year is getting back to enjoying what we do and finding our purpose and identity again. At the end of the day, it’s about giving back to the fans, community, and city we represent. It’s going to be an enjoyable year, and I’m just keen to run out at Segra with the boys again. Just happy to call DC home for the foreseeable future. See you in 2022!”

Fa’anana-Schultz has come a long way from playing in Samoa, Japan, and the United States to now representing his country on the world stage. In July of this year, the US Eagles called him up to join the 30-player traveling roster for England and Ireland tests, in which he started in both matches as a flanker, even scoring a try at Twickenham. Following his success with the July series, the Eagles invited Fa’anana-Schultz again to join the team for a two-part Rugby World Cup qualification series against rivals Canada in early September. He’s currently training with the Eagles in Glendale, Colorado, in preparation for round two of Rugby World Cup qualification matches against Uruguay on October 2 and October 9.
