Coach Douglas Names the Week One Squad

Head Coach Andrew Douglas announces the 23-man squad to face NOLA Gold on their home turf this Sunday, March 21st, at 4 PM Eastern in Week 1.  Flanker Mungo Mason will return as team captain to lead the OGs this season.

Starters Jamie Dever, Steven Longwell, Callum Gibbins, and Sam Cusano will make their Old Glory DC and Major League Rugby debut this Sunday in New Orleans.

Jamie Dever, Mikey Sosene-Feagai, and Steven Longwell create a stonewall at first row. Fijian locks Tevita Naqali and Api Naikatini bring familiarity and stand tall at #4 and #5. Callum Gibbins, Mungo Mason, and Jamason Fa’anana-Schultz return to the scrum to balance the back of the engine.

Lethal combination Danny Tusitala and Jason Robertson return at #9 and #10. The Canadian duo Ciaran Hearn and Doug Fraser find the center of the backline with Renata Roberts Te Nana and Sam Cusano on the wings. Mike Dabulas clinches a starting roster spot at full back.

Former Toronto Arrows and Canadian National player Luke Campell adds depth to the bench and will make his Old Glory debut. The remaining seven reserves will make both their Old Glory DC and Major League Rugby debut, including local players Jack Iscaro, Jack Carroll, Sean Hartig, D’Montae Noble, and Josh Brown. Iscaro, Hartig, and Brown have been with the squad since the exhibition season in Spring of 2019 and will represent the Mid-Atlantic rugby community on Sunday. Additionally, Hong Kong Premiership hooker James King and MLR Draft Pick Casey Renaud are prepared to add power to the forward pack.

Congratulations to the entire 2021 squad for a momentous 2021 season debut!
